Fantastic Hearts on the French Ski Slopes

Well, sadly I have no wedding to plan as Jack returned from his extended Hogmanay stay empty handed (unless you count his sore head!). I was beginning to worry he would miss out on our first ski trip of the year. Our Spanish friends (Nobility of course) had invited us to stay at their Grand Ski Lodge in Meribel (sadly, not Klosters, but one can’t be too fussy these days). So once again, the King and I, and for a change Jack too, set off for the airport at the non-royal hour of 4am, to catch yet another budget flight. Surprisingly our flight was fine and we touched down in Geneva early.

Happy New Year from the Heart Kingdom

Happy New Year from the Heart Kingdom

Happy New Year citizens! Honestly, I really do not know where the time has gone, I feel like our Kingdom has turned into Samoa and we’ve skipped all of December!

When I was last online, we were launching our shop. What an eye-opener that turned out to be! Jack’s ludicrous plan of involving me in the running of the shop did not come to fruition – Thank goodness. Honestly, I still can’t believe he thought I would leave my kingdom and throne to perch in a shop and operate a cash register –what was he thinking? In the end, the King, came to my rescue and suggested we slim down the budget for our annual Grand Christmas Ball, in order to finance an assistant for Jack – so that, my dear citizens is what we did.

Fantastic Hearts hits the High Street!

Fantastic Hearts hits the High Street!

Good morning citizens, well, I started writing this blog around Hallowe’en and didn’t quite get it finished, so now, I have nearly a month’s worth of activity to update you on. So Hallowe’en, came and went. We hosted a wonderful party, and decorated our palace grounds with lots of carved lit pumpkins, as in our Kingdom, it is customary, to leave a lit pumpkin outside your house, to indicate that you are happy to receive ‘Trick or Treaters’. Well, the Queen is always up for a treat, so in addition to entertaining guests, she was pleased to receive lots of fancy dressed children at the palace’s door. The King, who is a trickster himself, had blackened the hallway and had instructed one of the staff to dress up as a skeleton and hand out sweets to those children that didn’t run away. I myself think it was a ploy for the King to end up with the majority of the sweet stash, but who am I to judge, though the King did comment a few days later that his good trousers were a bit tighter than usual!

The Queen likes ‘Facebook’

Long time no blog, I hear you cry! I am so sorry citizens, but one has been so frightfully busy, with guests, magazine editors, retailers, charity events, stock sorting, running the royal household and catching up with modern technology. Honestly, I’ve barely had time to sleep, let alone sneak in a swift G+T – that’s how busy one has been!

Early Rise for Rugby World Cup

Early Rise for Rugby World Cup

The palace has been a den of silence for the last few days, as Jack decided last Friday that he was off to the Oktoberfest. I am not sure whether it was the wonderful weather or offer of a room at his cousin’s Bavarian castle that got him on his feet, but he was certainly off like a rocket. I do hope he returns in one piece, as his cousin is a bit of a wild one. Quite frankly, I was relieved – it provided an opportunity for the maid to clear his turret and would give us peace and quiet.

Queen of Hearts gets a fright! Fantastic Hearts RSS Feed

Well, citizens, the palace is a wash of activity today. We have a royal guest arriving tomorrow and then some diplomats on Sunday, so it is a last minute rush, to get the palace spick and span. We have had a bit of a ‘workman’ issue recently as when we moved into our new palace, the garden patio was incomplete. It was the previous palace owner’s duty, to rectify this. However despite being in residence for a few months, there has been no progress on the patio front. So imagine my shock, when I looked out onto the garden this morning and saw some naked torsos digging up my patio! Now, if it had been that Durmid Gavin or Andy Surgeon, one might have pondered the view for a tad longer. Though, I must say, I do love attending the Chelsea Flower Show every year – all the gardens are simply splendid, and well, the Monaco garden this year was my personal favourite. I could just visualise myself in it, with a glass of Cristal on one of those lovely sun loungers, though with King’s budget cuts, I’ll probably have to downgrade to Bollinger soon.
